I have my own online weight loss program, but it won’t be the right fit for everyone. Don’t get me wrong – I hope that it is! But I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s OK. In this blog, I wanted to explore what I think makes a good online weight loss program and the main two things is that they’re A) evidence-based and B) personalised.
To be successful a program must be evidence-based, be personalised and have some form of accountability. My weight loss program Weighing in Lighter, incorporates all these three aspects over 10 weeks of weekly Zoom calls. I’m going to cover these three topics in detail and why I think they need to be included to make a good online weight loss program
Be Evidence-Based, Research Focused Only
When it comes to addressing weight loss, a program must rely solely on evidence-based information and the latest research. The Nutritionist must stay up-to-date with scientific studies and guidelines to provide you with the most accurate and effective strategies that have been proven to work for sustainable weight loss. There’s so much misinformation online about weight loss and it’s crucial for everyone to know they’re only being given information that has been proven to be successful for weight loss under proper scientific research.
Be Individual and Personalised
A program should dive into different educational topics that are specifically designed to help you achieve your weight loss goals. Not only should they cover valuable information, but also provide dedicated Q&A time to address any questions or concerns each individual may have. The program should focus on individualised coaching, where they work closely with each member to identify and overcome any barriers that may be hindering progress.
Incorporate Accountability for the Participants
In a weight loss program, you will learn from others who are going through the same thing. Sharing your experiences with others who are struggling with weight loss can be incredibly helpful. You will be able to learn from their experiences and gain valuable insights into how to overcome your own challenges. By having a group coaching element to an online weight loss program, it increases the accountability of everybody involved. Accountability = more progress.
